Disclosing AI Use in Your Music
How to be upfront about AI in your music on streaming services and social media, and where AIE stands.
Why disclose
Fans trust artists who are honest about how they make music. Being clear about AI use also protects you if a platform asks questions later.
On streaming platforms
Streaming services and distributors are still updating their rules about AI-generated and AI-assisted music. Some ask you to label it at upload, and some have rules about which AI tools you can use and who owns the result. Check your distributor's and each platform's current rules before every release. Rules can change between your releases.
On social media
Some social apps offer an "AI-generated" label for posts, and some may add one automatically. When you post clips or visuals made with AI, use the label if it's available, and say so in your caption when it isn't.
A simple way to say it
Describe what you did, in your own words. For example: "Lyrics and direction by me, vocals generated with AI, mixed by me." Be specific about the human work and the AI work.
Where AIE stands
AIE supports artists who are open about their process. Read our full stance on the Transparency page.
