Get the Most From the AIE Music Review Show
How to prepare a song for the live review show, what the hosts listen for, and how to turn feedback into a better next release.
What the show is
The AIE Music Review Show is a live stream where submitted songs are played and reviewed on air. It runs Friday through Sunday at 6 PM Central. You can submit for free, or pay to move up in the queue. Current options and prices are on review.aiemusic.com.
Before you submit
- Send your best, finished version. A rough demo gets rough feedback. Submit the mix you'd actually release.
- Check the first 30 seconds. Reviews move quickly. If your song takes a minute to start, say where the hook is in your submission notes, or trim the intro.
- Check your levels. Make sure the song isn't clipping or much quieter than other music. See Mix and Master Basics.
- Give the hosts context. One or two sentences: genre, what the song is about and what kind of feedback you want.
What the hosts listen for
- A hook that lands quickly.
- Lyrics that say something specific.
- A clean sound without obvious AI artifacts.
- A clear identity. Does this sound like an artist, or like a preset?
During the show
Be in the chat when your song plays. Thank people who comment. Clip your segment and share it. A good review is free content, and a tough one shows people you're serious about getting better.
After the show
Write down the two or three points that came up most. Pick one to fix on your next song. Don't try to fix everything at once. Then submit the next one and see if it lands better.
Taking criticism
Feedback is about the song, not about you. If a note stings, wait a day before reacting. The artists who grow fastest are the ones who come back the next weekend with something better.
